About Us

My name is Monica, I am a knitter, dyer, alpaca farmer, creator, mother and that's when I'm not at my paying job....

I taught myself to knit when I was pregnant with my daughter and I've never stopped, it's only evolved.  First it was splurging on yarn, then becoming a total yarn snob...  I used to paint and but I'm not actually very good at painting, but I am good with color, so I changed my canvas for yarn and learned to dye. Sustainability is a passion of mine in all things so I chose to dye with heavy metal free dyes which are a bit more finicky, but it means I start with 8 colors and everything else I get to CREATE all while being kind to our ground water as well as providing a heavy metal free alternative for those with heavy metal sensitivities or being eco-conscious.

We dream of a day when we can expand the farm and leave the corporate world behind to focus on Wandering Farms full time.  Until then If you are going to spend the time and the thousands of stitches to make something lovely, love the feel of the yarn you are using!  Come join the snobbery!
